Sega Europe has announced its partnership with the UK’s leading fine art publisher Washington Green to produce a collection of fine art inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog. [Thanks, GoNintendo.]

The collection will be created by a group of critically-acclaimed artists to celebrate the iconic hedgehog’s 25th anniversary and will include a diverse range of works created by various mediums. Additionally, a number of the pieces will be reproduced as limited editions and signed by Naoto Oshima, one of the Sonic franchise’s original designers and founding members. These signed pieces will be launched via Washington Green’s network of 34 Castle Fine Art galleries across the UK on Friday 2nd December 2016, and a public exhibition will be on display at Castle Fine Art, South Molton Street, London, W1K 5RR starting December 2nd as well.

“Our goal when it came to Sonic’s 25th Anniversary was to celebrate, but also mark the occasion with a series of initiatives which take a unique view on what is one of the world’s most iconic video game characters” said Jason Rice, Sega Europe’s Director of Brand Licensing. “The Sonic licensing programme is already well known for its art programmes but we wanted to really push the boundaries with this project. With Washington Green we have been able to create a one-of-a-kind collection for the franchise. They have given us access to some of contemporary art’s most celebrated artists not to mention a number of new up and coming talents. The result is a collection of truly stunning and innovative works from some of the finest painters and sculptors around today.”
