Dead Years – A Girl And Her Dog Working Together In A Zombie-Infested World

A young girl falls from the sky with a parachute, but a bad landing leaves her with no memory of how she got there. All she knows is that she can rely on the dog she wakes up beside in Dead Years, an action adventure game that takes inspiration from RPG systems.

In Dead Years, zombies have attacked, forcing the player to scavenge for wearable gear, food, and other items to survive against the undead, and worse, other survivors. Not all survivors are bad, though, and some may help the girl and dog with quests that will help her get better gear or means to improve a base shelter for herself.

Quest items and gear can be anywhere, as all of the game’s buildings can be entered and explored. To fully do so, players might need lockpicking skills or a crowbar or axe to break into spots. The harder a place is to reach, the better the loot inside.

Players can switch between the dog and girl at any time, with each having their own strengths and abilities. The game will feature multiple point where playing as one will be more effective than the other. Food, which is shared to restore health, will also effect each character differently, with chocolate making the dog sick, and raw meat being unpleasant for the girl to eat.

As players survive, complete quests, and defeat enemies, they’ll gain experience points and level up, unlocking points to put into skills and abilities such as mechanics and first aid.

Over time, the player will also gain access to flashbacks that will give them insight into the dog’s life, which will feature it as a puppy. The developers also promise that the game will not end on a dramatic, heart-rending dog death, saying the dog will survive the events of the game.
