Developer Quadro Delta and publisher Re-Logic (creator of Terraria) have announced Pixel Privateers, the follow-up to popular piracy sim Pixel Piracy. You can watch its debut trailer above.
Pixel Privateers differs from its predecessor quite a bit. Whereas Pixel Piracy had you building a pirate ship and sailing the oceans to fight other pirates in ship-to-ship combat, Pixel Privateers is a more traditional-style squad-based tactical-RPG set in outer space.
It has you sending “your team of mercenaries through a mysterious wormhole on a quest to gather technology for your employer.” It gives you a procedurally generated galaxy to explore full with worlds to land on, factions to encounter, and lots of gear to collect.
What remains true to the Pixel Piracy core it is rooted in, however, is Quadro Delta’s focus on providing a user-customizable experience and robust multiplayer experience.
Pixel Privateers will be coming to Steam in the first quarter of 2016.
