You may not have heard of Gurren Lagann before, I wasn’t familiar with it either until ADV Films announced they picked the series up for US distribution at Anime Expo. I still don’t know much about it other than it’s a mecha anime and Gainax is the studio behind it. Back in Japan where the series has been airing on TV, Konami inked out a deal to make a Nintendo DS game based on the series.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann primarily uses the DS’ touch screen. If you want to speak to one of the anime characters you tap them with the stylus to strike a conversation. During battles the touch screen turns into radar and you can select attacks through the bottom menu. Along with the game people that pre order Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann net an anime DVD that connects the story line from Konami’s DS game back to the anime. Neat.

Since ADV Films plans to bring Gurren Lagann to the USA there is a slim chance Konami’s game could come out if the anime gets popular enough.
