Atari’s secret weapon? Jenga on the DS and Wii

This November Atari is going to bring Jenga out for the Nintendo DS and Wii. Atomic Planet created Jackie Chan Adventures and is probably best known for handling the work on Mega Man: Anniversary Collection is developing the game. So how are you going to grab virtual wooden blocks?

Players of the Wii version can get physical with the Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk™ controllers as they battle to keep the Jenga tower from falling, while on the DS the touch screen provides equally intuitive control of the fast-paced action. Players will experience sophisticated physics, and a multitude of game-play options (single and multiplayer). The game will contain all the fun, intensity and challenge of the original boxed game with a wealth of exciting new enhancements, power-ups and twists that are possible only in the videogame world. Simple to learn and fun to play, Jenga promises great entertainment for all ages.

OK… so that didn’t explain much. One way Atomic Planet could handle the control on the DS is by allowing players to tap a piece and then gently slide it out on the touch screen. The Wii is a little trickier, but I imagine it might be like Trauma Center: Second Opinion’s forceps tool where you have to gently pull the Wii remote away from the screen to pick up pieces of GUILT… except in Jenga you will be picking up blocks.
