It’s been a year since Red Barrels Entertainment confirmed that it is working on a sequel to its first-person horror game Outlast. Nothing has been revealed about it since but now the studio has released a teaser trailer for Outlast 2.
Even so, there are still few details regarding what Outlast 2 will be about. That said, it seems that, rather than finding horror in mental health issues and asylums – as Outlast did – Outlast 2 will find horror in exploring faith and religious themes.
The full description that came with the teaser suggests more:
“No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. OUTLAST 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.”
Outlast 2’s official website has the game listed for Windows, Mac, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
