After reading a book on Buddhism by a SriLankan Theravada Buddhist elder (named Alubomulle Sumanasara), Japanese developer RhinocerosHorn has aimed to make a visual novel that teaches the fundamentals of the religion (thanks RocketNews).

The result is Mori no Seija (Saint of the Forest). It’s be a free-to-play iOS and Android game that’ll be out in Japan this September. It tells the story of a young Japanese man who travels to Thailand to train as a novice monk.

By experiencing this story, you’ll learn the basic tenets of Buddhism, as well as how to follow Buddhist practices as you go about your day. It seems that the game will also include a way to level up through meditation.
