Square Enix recently shared the latest look and details on Star Ocean 5, and producer Shuichi Kobayashi and director Hiroshi Ogawa talked more about the game in an interview in this weekā€™s issue of Dengeki PlayStation. [Thanks, Hachima]

First, Dengeki asksĀ whyĀ Star Ocean 5 is being developedĀ for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

ā€œAfter thinking about which console older fans of Star Ocean would likely play the game on, we decided on PlayStation,ā€ says Kobayashi. ā€œRather than focusing on making it for a home console, we focused more on which consoles are owned by more people [among this audience].ā€

Next, Dengeki asks about the concept behind the development of Star Ocean 5.

ā€œā€˜Righteousnessā€™ and ā€˜returning to our rootsā€™ would be the foundation,ā€ explains Ogawa. ā€œIā€™d like to make something that can be enjoyed by those who like the RPG genre.ā€

Kobayashi adds, ā€œFundamentally, our goal is to make something that can be accepted by RPG fans, and a Star Ocean that fits in todayā€™s era.ā€

Dengeki alsoĀ asks aboutĀ DLC, which was mentionedĀ in an earlier interview.

ā€œWeā€™re not thinking about DLC that supplements the story,ā€ Kobayashi says once again. ā€œOf course, if the fans want it, then there is the possibility. Personally speaking, I believe fans would think that if we have time to be working on that, theyā€™d much rather have us work on the next title, instead.ā€

Finally, Dengeki asks the developers to share a little on the parts of the game theyā€™re putting most effort into.

ā€œWeā€™re focused on the seamless aspect of it,ā€ says Kobayashi. ā€œWhile surrounded by enemies on the field, the camera will be positioned in a way that will make it easier to fight and have no discomfort.ā€

ā€œHowever, I feel that there are still some parts of the camera that need adjustment,ā€ Ogawa chimes in. ā€œIā€™d like to keep working on it until weā€™re finally done.ā€

ā€œThe screenshots we recently revealed were done in real-time. Itā€™s what itā€™ll look like to seamlessly move between events and battles,ā€ Kobayashi says.

Star Ocean 5 is in development for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
