Japanese indie studio Cross Eaglet’s sidescrolling action platformer Ninja Rising first reared its head in the public sphere back in 2011 as the studio entered the game into Microsoft’s Dream.Build.Play competition.

Since then, it’s faded from the public for the most part, with little to no development updates coming along, and Cross Eaglet fully focused on working on its spinny shmup Revolver 360 RE:ACTOR instead, or so it seemed.

Whatever the case, Cross Eaglet has now finished and released Revolver 360 RE:ACTOR now, and so it seems that Ninja Rising is back on the agenda.

Actually, Cross Eaglet released a new video of Ninja Rising in August 2014 during Comiket 86. You can watch it on the game’s official page.

Also revealed on the website is that Ninja Rising has been undergoing a transition from XNA to Unreal Engine 4. Considering that, the screenshots that you can see above, which are taken from the site, more than likely do not represent how the game looks now.

And, indeed, Cross Eaglet itself says that a lot of the features it has planned for Ninja Rising haven’t even been implemented yet. But, considering it didn’t look bad three years ago, and we’re always a fan of fast-pace ninja action, it’s a game worth keeping an eye on. If nothing else, it’s good to know the project is still alive and kicking.
