In Pokémon Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire, There Are Special Pokémon Hiding In Tall Grass

In each Pokémon game, you have a different operating system of sorts that helps you on your quest as a trainer. In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, it’s the PokéNav Plus, and like every other OS, is displayed on the bottom screen of the 3DS.

The PokéNav Plus has four different apps—the DexNav, AreaNav, BuzzNav and PlayNav. Each of these serves a different purpose, outlined below.

DexNav:

This feature allows you to find hidden or specific types of Pokémon in tall grass. Sometimes, when you’re running around in the overworld, you’ll see a Pokémon’s body sticking out of the grass or the water. This is a “hidden” Pokémon, and you’ll be able to use the DexNav to learn more about them, and even figure out what kind of abilities they might have before getting into battle with them.

Once you’ve caught at least one of a certain kind of Pokémon, you’ll be able to use the DexNav to search for that species specifically, including in places like the Safari Zone.

As you capture more of a certain species, the easier it will become for you to search for more Pokémon of that kind with hidden abilities or rare moves. Once you track them down, if they’re in tall grass, you’ll need to sneak up on them so they don’t run away. However, there are also instances where you’ll find them in groups—for example; a school of Luvdisc or a flock of Wingulls.

AreaNav:

The AreaNav application lets you check information pertaining to the Hoenn region. You can look up locations on your map as always, but in addition to that, you can also check for where to find Pokémon and Trainers, Secret Bases, Berry Trees and more.

Highlighting a town on the map lets you look up its Pokémon Center and Mart and Gym, and to make things more convenient, you can use Fly from the AreaNav map. With regard to Pokémon themselves, the AreaNav will let you check wild Pokémon distribution by area.

Meanwhile, Trainer information will let you ascertain details about trainers you’ve fought and will also let you know if they’re ready for a rematch.

BuzzNav:

BuzzNav lets you view news from around Hoenn and from other players with whom you’ve StreetPassed.

It also allows you to access TV Shows that provide information on Trainers, Secret Bases, Pokémon and more.

PlayNav:

The PlayNav application lets you trade Pokémon, and provides access to three features that debuted in Pokémon X and Y—the Player Search System, Pokémon Amie and Super Training.

The Holo Caster, Battle Spot and Global Trading Features can be accessed from the PlayNav application, too.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be available on November 21st in North America and November 28th in Europe.
