If you fancy zapping back to the 1980s as a superhero in a tight suit then you might want to check out the newly released Appointment With F.E.A.R. on iOS, Android, and PC. It’s based on Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone’s Fighting Fantasy gamebook series and has all the campy humor you’d hope.
As Titan City’s defender of justice, your job is to use your super powers to protect its citizens from the many super villains that attempt to put them in danger. Your specific mission in Appointment With F.E.A.R. is to discover the location of the top-secret F.E.A.R. meeting and capture the Titanium Cyborg.
The game is stylized like a graphic novel and so you’ll be battling villains such as Tiger Cat and Chainsaw Bronski, not with fists or feet, but with insults and unkind remarks. It’s a bit like the insult sword-fighting in the Monkey Island series. You’ll also need to scan scenes for clues using your high-tech Crime Watch.
Before heading off on your heroic mission, you’ll need to customize your super hero’s look, gender, and choose what super powers you have. Other features in the game include hidden achievements to earn and trading cards to collect, including rare and special varieties.

The Windows, Mac, and Linux (and also Android) versions can be purchased for the discounted price of $4.79 (down from $5.99) through the Humble Store. It’s also available on Steam at the same price.
