Watch the Monster Hunter 3 Intro

It’s July 27, which means we’re less than a week away from the launch of Monster Hunter 3 in Japan. Following in the wake of recent releases like Wii Sports Resort and Dragon Quest IX, it’s nice to see MH3 and Co. give the Japanese games market a well-needed kick in the pants.

At the very least, MH3 will sell thousands of Wii bundles. If you’re willing to be a bit more optimistic, it signals the start of a trend that games like Final Fantasy XIII, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Sengoku Basara 3 and Dragon Quest X will help maintain, even if it’s for a short duration — more consumer activity in the home console space. Tales of Graces and Vesperia PS3 can’t hurt either.

It’s kind of exciting to see the enthusiasm surrounding these bigger releases, even if the effects probably won’t last more than a few months. Still, considering most of these releases are pretty evenly spaced out over the next year and beyond, there’s bound to be increased growth compared to last year. (Relatively) Good times!
