You’ve most likely seen custom-made Super Mario Bros. games on the Internet, but making them might not be as easy to some, that is until now. Nintendo announced Mario Maker, an upcoming Wii U game that lets you customize the Mushroom Kingdom to the way you want.
As shown in the video, making the courses is quite simple, where you basically just drag and drop elements using the Wii U GamePad. In addition to obstacles, various enemies such as Piranha Plants and Goombas can also be placed anywhere on the course.
Players can also playtest and edit the stages on the fly, so if a certain edit seems off, it can be tested and fixed right away. Additionally, the visual style can be switched between the classic 8-bit Super Mario Bros. look to the HD New Super Mario Bros. U by the tap of an icon.
Mario Maker will be released sometime in the first half of 2015 for Wii U.
