Game Atelier, developers of The Flying Hamster, are currently working on The Flying Hamster II. Unlike the first game, this second one is an action-RPG platformer inspired by the Wonder Boy series.
Initially, Game Atelier were using Kickstarter to fund The Flying Hamster II, but this morning, they cancelled the game’s Kickstarter campaign, and announced that they have entered a publishing arrangement with FDG Entertainment, who will help them produce the game.
This will allow the development team to go into production sooner than expected, and Game Atelier say that being published by FDG will “drastically raise the overall quality of the game”.
“Being gamers from heart since the early days, we couldn’t do anything but fall in love with the game,” FDG Entertainment’s co-founder Thomas Kern said. “We are convinced that this kind of game is what people are still looking for these days, so we jumped in to make sure this game is going to happen and fill us all with joy.”
The Flying Hamster is being developed for PC, and once development is complete, ports to other platforms will follow. Additionally, those that backed the game’s Kickstarter campaign will still get a free copy of the game, even though the Kickstarter has been cancelled. You can find out how to get your free copy here.
