Games can still sell on the PSP, provided you have the right product, Namco Bandai demonstrated in Japan last week, with the release of Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment. The PSP game based on the popular Sword Art Online light novels and anime series sold close to 140,000 copies in its first week on store shelves.
Not far behind it at #2 was Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, released by Square Enix for the PlayStation 3. Behind it at #3 was Super Robot Taisen UX for the 3DS.
Meanwhile, Soul Sacrifice, Sony’s hunting action game for the PlayStation Vita sold about 30,000 copies in week 2, bringing total sales (including those of the dual pack SKU) to about 143,500 copies sold. Given the drop in Soul Sacrifice sales from its first week to its second, it should be interesting to see how long-term sales pan out, with the releases of God Eater 2 and Monster Hunter 4 looming on the horizon.
Finally, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is close to the 400,000 mark in sales.
