Pokémon Rumble U, an upcoming Wii U game, will be the first Wii U title to use the console’s “NFC” capability. NFC stands for “near field communication” and is a feature wherein certain real-life objects can be read by the Wii U GamePad, and have in-game effects.

According to a report in CoroCoro magazine (via: Serebii.net), Pokémon Rumble U will allow you to purchase Pokémon figures at a Pokémon Center in Japan and have the Pokémon appear in the game.

Pokémon Rumble U is a follow-up to Pokémon Rumble on WiiWare and Pokémon Rumble Blast on the Nintendo 3DS. The game will support up to four players, and will feature all 649 Pokémon from previous generations, with up to 100 in battle at once.

The game will be released on April 24th in Japan via the Nintendo eShop for 1,200 yen. The Pokémon figures will be released on the same day for 200 yen each.
