Sony are cutting the price of the PlayStation Vita in Japan, but a similar price cut is not planned for other regions, according to a Polygon report.

According to Polygon, Sony Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida, revealed at a roundtable interview that a Japanese price cut was possible due to the current exchange rate. The cut, which goes into effect on Feb. 28th, lowers the Vita’s price from 24,980 yen to 19,980 yen.

In North America, the PlayStation Vita costs $250 and $300 for the device’s Wi-Fi and 3G models respectively.
