Square-Enix’s sole new property at Jump Fiesta, It’s a Wonderful World, looks like it is shaping up to be a unique addition to the DS line up. The story begins with Neku who is forced to play death’s game by the Shinigami Corporation. If he fails to complete the game in seven days he is erased from existence. Neku is known for being empathetic, which allows him to enter people’s thoughts. You can see Neku doing this in the trailer when the screen turns blue and bubbles appear above characters heads. Neku can do this to find “noise”, monsters that reside in the characters thoughts. Teamed up with Neku is teamed up with Shiki, a young girl who is a dancer.
Subarashiki Kono Sekai’s battle system uses both screens. Shiki dances on top and Neku is on the bottom. You control Neku by using the touch screen and you can tap what he is going to attack. Shiki is controlled with the D-pad and you can do different attacks with different button sequences. Besides a new combat system Subarashiki Kono Sekai has a style that separates it from Square-Enix’s other games. It looks like a mix of Jet Set Radio and Kingdom Hearts. Even the soundtrack isn’t typical Square-Enix fare, it is a mix of house and hip-hop.
