Resident Evil 5 Director Working On E.X. Troopers

Recommended Videos

As previously reported, Capcom’s Lost Planet spin-off, E.X. Troopers, is being produced by one of the producers of the Monster Hunter series, Shintaro Kojima. Kojima worked as assistant producer on Monster Hunter Tri and was one of the planners for Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (and Freedom Unite).

Yesterday, Capcom held a stage event for the game at their ongoing “Capcom Game Jam” event in Japan, and 4Gamer, who were in attendance, report that E.X. Troopers is being directed by Yasuhiro Anpo. What has Anpo worked on in the past?

His most high-profile achievement to date is that he was the director of Resident Evil 5. Anpo’s association with Resident Evil goes all the way back to the first game, however. He worked on the very first Resident Evil as a software engineer, and in the same capacity on Resident Evil 2 as well. He also worked as a software engineer on Onimusha: Warlords and as a “library programmer” on Lost Planet.

As reported earlier today, E.X. Trooper’s story is being penned by Dai Sato, who worked on the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Eureka Seven anime series. You can read about E.X. Troopers’ story here and about its characters in this post.

E.X. Troopers will be released sometime in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 3. The game will have co-op multiplayer, but further details on the multiplayer front have yet to be shared.
