The Associated Press report that the widly-rumoured Epic Mickey 2 is indeed in development, and that designer, Warren Spector, has plans to do things a little differently from the first game this time around. For starters, the sequel will be a musical.
"I’m such a geek about musicals," Spector shared at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco earlier this month. "I love the co-op and next-gen stuff, but for me, when a character breaks into song, which they do on a regular basis in this game, it’s magic."
This will carry over to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as well, who will now have a voice in Epic Mickey 2. Oswald will be voiced by Frank Welker, who has played a role in numerous cartoons over the years, including several Hanna Barbera productions such as Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and Super Friends.
Spector mentioned that he likes co-op, and that’s another feature that will be present in Epic Mickey 2. Oswald and Mickey will team up, with Mickey holding the magical brush once again, while Oswald wields a remote control that can command electricity. Co-op will be “drop-in, drop-out,” which means you’ll be able to join in a friend’s game and leave whenever you want.
