Nintendo’s Kid Icarus: Uprising Twitter account has been busy, busy, busy. For days now, it’s been tweeting little tidbits of information on the game and how to play it, covering both single player and multiplayer modes, as well as weapons. Today, it shared another piece of news: Kid Icarus: Uprising has rocket jumping in the game’s multiplayer mode:
In case you aren’t familiar with the concept, in first-person shooters, rocket jumping involves firing a rocket at the ground below your feet with just the right timing while performing a jump. The impact from the blast causes you to “rocket jump” high in the air, and if timed right, you take minimal damage. Rocket jumping was (is?) a popular trick to use in competitive FPSes like Quake and Unreal Tournament. Good players could use it to get around quickly, or simply escape to higher ground at will.
We aren’t certain if it works the same way in Uprising, but it does sounds like rocket jumping will server a similar purpose, as the Twitter account says: “Escape from close combat and bewilder powerful nearby foes with the explosive Rocket Jump.”
