Voltex and Konami haven’t confirmed Beat ‘n Groovy exists even though it’s rated by multiple rating boards around the world. There isn’t any official information about what Beat ‘n Groovy may be, but Destructoid found a tantalizing rumor over at Bemanistyle. An “extremely reliable source” told Bemanistyle that Beat ‘n Groovy contains nine songs including Beyond the Earth, 100 sec. Kitchen Battle, and Moon. You may recall these songs from various mixes of Pop ‘n Music, but you won’t be seeing the same characters. The art direction presumably doesn’t include any characters from other Pop ‘n Music games thus far. Also there is the unusual addition of the Xbox Live Vision camera.
The difficulty sounds easier too since a three button and five button mode are the only choices available at the beginning. A standard Pop ‘n Music controller has nine buttons. Since Beat ‘n Groovy is confirmed to be an Xbox Live Arcade game I find it unlikely Konami will try to push a peripheral to go along with Beat ‘n Groovy. This might not be a perfect conversion in the minds of Pop ‘n Music fans, but if the rumor is on the mark, it’s a positive start.
