Next up for the iPhone from Cave is Deathsmiles. Cave didn’t just port the game over, though — in addition to Arcade Mode, they gave it a new mode with a new character, too, called the “iPhone Mode”. iPhone Mode is aimed at both those who are new to the game, as well as those who have seen everything the console version of Deathsmiles has to offer.
iPhone Mode stars a character named Tiara, princess of Gilverado. Cave say she dotes on her subjects and friends, but is ice-cold to those that threaten her kingdom. In iPhone Mode, she takes on an evil witch coven.
You can power Princess Tiara up with items either dropped by enemies or bought at Sakura’s Shop within the game.
iPhone Mode’s scenario and character designs are handled by manga-ka Yukinatsu Mori. Mori based his style for the game on original character designs by Deathsmiles series illustrator, Junya Inoue. The mode will have brand new music composed by Takeshi Miyamoto (Muchi Muchi Pork, Pink Sweets).
Practice mode is in Deathsmiles for iPhone as well. Cave haven’t provided a release date for the game yet, but say they’ll announce one soon. In the mean time, you can watch a promo video for the game above.
