Asura’s Wrath’s Planet-Sized Boss Is One Of The Weaker Bosses In The Game

Remember the “God Finger” boss from the Asura’s Wrath trailer at Captivate a few weeks ago? That encounter takes place early in the game, according to game director, Seiji Shimoda.

“This fight shown today occurs at the beginning of the game and he is actually one of the weaker bosses,” Shimoda told the PlayStation blog. “The boss fights aren’t all going to be on this scale… well, the scale may be grander but that’s not to say the bosses have to be bigger, if that makes sense; some will be quicker or simply better fighters.”

On bosses in general, Shimoda stated: “We’re striving to use bosses to heighten the drama of the story, not just use them as an action set-piece at the end of a level.”

The lead character in Asura’s Wrath will be able to power up as you play the game, but perhaps not in ways you might expect. “It’s not your typical action game where you start out with a small sword and work up to a huge weapon; it doesn’t have that style of progression,” Shimoda says.

He pointed to how the character starts the game out with two arms and eventually has six as an example of progression. More transformations of that sort will take place during the game. “The character you see here is not all there is,” Shimoda hinted.
