Aeria games released a new trailer and more information on upcoming 2D side-scrolling multiplayer shooter Metal Assault today, touching upon the Contra/Metal Slug-inspired game’s different modes.
Metal Assault allows you to play PvP (player vs. player), the singleplayer PvE (player vs. enemy) or the co-op PvZ (player vs. zombie). That last one is an entirely separate mode, which you can see more of here.
Metal Assault also has a quest mode, where you cooperate with other players to progress through the game’s story, which involves uncovering the mystery behind an underground military lab and the disappearance of a prominent researcher.
When it releases, Metal Assault will be a free-to-play game on PC. Before that, however, Aeria Games and developer, GNI Soft, will be hosting a closed beta sometime in the near future.
