There’s a good chance you aren’t familiar with Ubisoft Montpellier’s From Dust, which first made an appearance at E3 last year. Shortly thereafter, Ubisoft released a tech demo video of the game, which you can view above.
Ubisoft describe From Dust as a “modern take on the God game genre.” While the tech demo video above shows you aspects of creation and evolution and natural disasters in From Dust, the ESRB have a few more things to add.
“This is a simulation game in which players help guide a primitive tribe to gain knowledge and expand their civilization. From a top-down perspective, players can manipulate soil, water, trees, etc. to help villagers migrate between islands, create villages, and defend against natural disasters. If players wish to, they can also set fire in villages or create giant tidal waves; villagers cry out when washed away into sea and collapse to the ground when overcome by fire.”
Despite the fact that you’re setting people on fire and tearing entire villages down, From Dust is rated “Everyone 10+,” which is a little amusing, especially considering the only content descriptor applied to the game is “Mild Violence.”
