Final Fantasy XVI PC Demo Patch Fixes Graphics Issues

When the Final Fantasy XVI PC demo launched on Steam and Epic Games Store, it also included a number of issues, and now a patch is here to fix them. Ten major problems are remedied in the update, with some of the biggest ones tied enemy appearances and issues with graphics. However, Square Enix noted this doesn’t address the stuttering problems, which will be fixed in a later update.

Many of the issues involve the way Final Fantasy XVI looks on a PC, with graphics and appearances affected by a number of elements. The 1.01 patch affected Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) to keep it from looking blurry. Previously, FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) rendering also wasn’t working as intended, making the game look blurry. Other loading and tearing issues will be resolved. Also, after the update you can change the Dynamic Resolution in the options menu.

Here are the patch notes for the Final Fantasy XVI demo 1.01 update:

“Improvements have been made to DLSS, FSR, and XeSS quality.
This should help to alleviate various graphical issues such as blurring (DLSS/XeSS) and pixelation (FSR).

The following issues have also been addressed:

  • Dynamic Resolution being locked on the lowest setting.
  • Enemies not appearing properly in certain battle content.
  • Graphics not displaying properly on certain stages.
  • Graphical tearing in certain instances when using borderless screen mode.
  • SFX not playing properly under certain conditions.
  • UI not displaying properly under certain conditions.
  • Screen resolution changing under certain conditions.
  • Rare instances of GPU crashes.
  • Other minor issues.”

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5, the Epic Games Store and Steam PC release date is set for September 17, 2024, and a demo is available for all platforms.
