Cult of the Lamb is set to receive a major update with the release of Unholy Alliance. The update promises to introduce a host of new features and enhancements.
Central to this update is the addition of a new character: the Goat. This new ally can now join the Lamb in local co-op. This offers players a chance to explore dungeons, defeat heretics, build their cult, and seek new powers together.
In local co-op, one player controls the Lamb and the other the Goat. This unholy duo can partake in revamped two-player versions of existing mini-games such as fishing. Additionally, they can discover and equip a range of corrupted weapons, tarot cards, curses, and relics.
What we know about Cult of the Lamb: Unholy Alliance
The update goes beyond co-op, introducing a variety of new follower traits that make the cult more dynamic and unpredictable. Followers can now have traits like insomnia or suffer from a catatonic state following resurrection trauma. These traits add layers of complexity to managing the cult..
Followers returning from missions may have their mental state altered by their experiences. Success might inspire them, spreading positivity, while horrors endured can leave them paralyzed with fear. Some followers might embrace polyamory, avoiding jealousy issues, while others could become dangerously jealous.
Unholy Alliance also brings new structures to the game. A nursery can be built to care for up to three babies at once, though the Lamb will still need to manage the inevitable mess. Once a baby reaches age 14, they will leave the nursery, freeing up space for more offspring.
The update also includes a new Knucklebones arena. It allows the Lamb to challenge a follower to a daily match, with difficulty scaling to the follower’s level. Winning a match will instantly level up the follower.
Crusades get a significant boost with a range of new relics and tarot cards designed for co-op play. Players can swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back-to-back, or score critical hits if their attacks are synchronized.
The free Unholy Alliance update arrives on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 12.
