For the most part, anime series these days take inspiration from manga, light novels, or just being an original show. However, it is becoming increasingly more common to see anime based on Korean manwha (comics). These are my favorite anime adaptation of Korean manwha so far.
The God of High School
If you are looking for the best action sequences possible, look no further. This series is all about high schoolers with essentially superhuman martial arts battling against one another in the ring. If you really love those classic anime tournament arcs, this series is pretty one entire tournament arc. Plus, the characters are pretty fun as well.
Tower of God
Let’s get the negative about this series out of the way: the animation kinda sucks. At least in the first season. So much so that I tried this show once and didn’t make it past the first episode. However, I tried it again just before Season 2 and, let me tell you, if you can get around the animation issues, this story is an unforgettable adventure. Plus, Season 2 looks actually good.
The premise revolves around a boy who is saved by a girl named Rachel. He wishes to follow her to the ends of the world, which leads him on a journey up the titular tower that grants wishes. It has elements of fantasy, battle royale death games, and more that you shouldn’t miss out on.
Lookism
This Netflix series has a very odd premise. A bullied, overweight student wakes up one morning as essentially the handsomest person alive. The Freaky Friday nature is a bit weird, but it works due to the characters and storytelling. It doles out some heartbreaking moments alongside laugh out loud scenes with impressive skill. Plus, it has some surprisingly good fight scenes occasionally.
