How to Get and Use Gomphotherium Skin in FFXIV Dawntrail

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail has lots of new crafting materials for players to collect and use for their jobs. One such material is the new Gomphotherium Skin in FFXIV Dawntrail, which has a few methods to get it, but is so worth it for the crafting recipe you can make as a Leatherworker.

Where to Get Gomphotherium Skin in FFXIV

There are a few different ways to get Gomphotherium Skin and it honestly comes down to how much effort or money you want to invest. If you are in a hurry to get this skin, the easiest way to obtain it is to simply buy it off of the Market Board. It can be costly this way but it is quick and simple.

Otherwise, you can trade FATE Gemstones you obtain from FATEs to any of the Gemstone NPCs in Tuliyollal, Solution Nine, and Heritage Found. The skin costs three Gemstones each. Level 99 Hunting Ventures for your Retainer can also get them.

But if you prefer to gather Gomphotherium the old fashioned way, you can get it by defeating certain enemies. Do this by heading to the following location:

• Heritage Found: X: 15.2, Y: 15.0

Here, you will find the level 99 Gomphotherium enemies in the wild. Defeating them will give you a chance of obtaining their skins for free.

How to Make Gomphotherium Leather in FFXIV

Once you have a Gomphotherium Skin in FFXIV Dawntrail, this is where the real fun begins. The whole purpose of collecting these skins is to either sell them on the Market Board for Gil or use them in its singular crafting recipe. You’ll need to be able to make level 96 or higher Leatherworker recipes to make Gomphotherium Leather:

• Gomphotherium Leather: Requires 1 Acacia Bark, 4 Gomphotherium Skins, and 8 Earth Crystals

You can then use that Gomphotherium Leather to make certain gear for various jobs.
