Another radical change to the equipment system in Final Fantasy XIV is here with the release of patch 7.0. Facewear is now an option for players to equip in the character screen, letting players don eyeglasses in FFXIV Dawntrail and 7.0 without having to waste a glamour or different equipment slot on them.
How do I unlock Facewear in FFXIV Dawntrail and 7.0?
Facewear is a brand new equipment slot, which you will find below the feet slot in the character screen. In the past, eyeglasses would be considered a head equipment option, so you would have to glamour and waste an equipment slot to have your character wear glasses.
Fortunately, that changed with the new Facewear Fashion Accessories slot. But first, you need to unlock it before you can use it. You do this once you acquire one of the four spectacles in the game, known as “The Faces We Wear” items.
Where do I get new glasses and other Facewear in FFXIV
To get new glasses, you’ll have to obtain one of the four “The Faces We Wear” items. There are two ways to go about this. For those players who already unlocked eyeglasses kinds of Fashion Accessories in the past, all you need to do is head on over to one of the Calamity Salvager NPCs in Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa, or Gridania to exchange it for the new Facewear option.
However, that won’t apply to most players. If you want to get Facewear the normal way in FFXIV Dawntrail or 7.0, head to the Gold Saucer. Speak with the Prize Claim NPC in the Gold Saucer at around X: 5.1, Y: 6.6 and select the “Prize Exchange III” option. You can buy all five of the current eyeglasses for the following MGP:
- The Faces We Wear – Contemporary Pince-nez: 40,000 MGP
- The Faces We Wear – Minstrel’s Spectacles: 90,000 MGP
- The Faces We Wear – Oval Spectacles: 100,000 MGP
- The Faces We Wear – Rimless Glasses: 70,000 MGP
- The Faces We Wear – Thick-rimmed Glasses: 30,000 MGP
You can optionally buy these from someone on the Market Board if you don’t have MGP, but I don’t recommend this route. They will likely be overpriced.
