The game will include all the levels from the classic Wii game, as well as the ones that appeared in the 3DS version. The game will also feature local two-player multiplayer using the separate Joy-Cons. Players can work together using them to travel through the levels of this HD Remaster.

Here is the first trailer for the game, which goes over what we can expect for when it comes back to the Nintendo Switch. It highlights both the single and multiplayer elements that will be present.

This is the second of the revamped Donkey Kong Country games to arrive on the Switch. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was released on the console back in May of 2018. Additional titles are also playable on the system via Nintendo Switch Online, should someone go into the SNES application.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will come to the Nintendo Switch on January 16, 2025. The game is immediately available to play on both the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo 3DS.
