June 2024 Nintendo Direct aside, the Summer Game Fest 2024 season is done and all the game announcements appeared. A lot came up! Console exclusives showed up. Updates ensured for long-awaited titles. So today, let’s go over all of the reveals we liked best.
I think UFO 50 was the best Summer Game Fest 2024 announcement. I’ve been waiting so, so many years for this game. I love the idea of the collection. The official trailer during Day of the Devs 2024 was fantastic. It is exactly what I want, and the variety of initial games showcased there is amazing. I can’t wait. — Jenni
I’m a simple man, I see Chamber Valorant and I hoot and holler. So naturally, it’s the Valorant console announcement, even if I’ll probably stick to playing on PC. — Kazuma
For me, it is Claire Obscur: Expedition 33. Aside from the pretty lackluster name, the game itself surprised me the most. Its timing-centric turn-based gameplay looks thrilling and fast-paced. But the real standout is the incredible music, which sounded like the composer from NieR: Automata, Keiichi Okabe, partnered up with the FFXIV: Shadowbringers theme song vocalist, Jason Charles Miller. — Cody
Going to let my Pokemon bias show here, and say the Palworld Sakurajima expansion. While it had many flaws at launch, Palworld is seriously one of the most fun “monster collecting” games I’ve played in years. The fact that its “fun factor” still shined through despite its clunky engine, is proof the game is on to “something.”
The trailer we got for Sakurajima actually looked beautiful, and has me excited to see how Pocketpair further improves the game in future updates. If nothing else, it gives us starving Pokemon fans something to play while we suffer through 2024 without any game being released (TCG Pocket doesn’t count).
Also wanted to give a quick shout out to Alan Wake 2: Night Springs DLC. If you haven’t checked it out yet, Remedy created a masterpiece and it’s never too late to jump in! — Brent
