Masterworking is a new feature added into Diablo 4 through the Season 4 update, and it isn’t too difficult to masterwork your items in the game once you unlock the feature.
How do I unlock Masterworking and Masterwork items in Diablo 4?
In order to unlock Masterworking and masterwork items in Diablo 4, you must meet the following requirements:
- Reach Level 70
- Complete the Quest “Pit of the Artificer”
- Complete a 46+ Nightmare Dungeon
Due to changes made in Season 4, leveling and obtaining Legendary and Unique items has become easier than ever. Depending on how optimized your build is and what items you’ve obtained through Helltides or obtaining Caches from the Tree of Whispers, you can reach Level 70 within a few hours. Grinding out Helltides is the easiest way to do so, especially if you participate in Accursed Rituals.
Upon reaching Level 70 you can head into the required Capstone Dungeon to unlock World Tier IV. From there, you will be able to access the quest “Pit of the Artificer.” This quest will require you to complete one 46+ Nightmare Dungeon.
In order to access Nightmare Dungeons, you will need to craft a 41-50 or above Nightmare Sigil at the Occultist. Occultists can be found in every major city, but the most conveniently located one will be in Kyovashad right next to the Blacksmith. After crafting the Nightmare Sigil head into the dungeon associated with your Nightmare Sigil (this will be random) and run through it and defeat the boss.
After that you will be able to speak to the Blacksmith and Masterwork items. There are a few other requirements to Masterworking items as well. This includes:
- The Item must be Sacred
- The Item must have both Tempering slots filled
After that you will be able to Masterwork the item to double its Tempered stats. And that’s all! Once you get to this point you should be able to Masterwork your gear fairly easily. If you are hurting for gold, make sure to do your Whispers to get the money you need to Masterwork your gear.
