How to Beat Nerthus in Eiyuden Chronicle

If you recruit Mellore in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, you may find the Nerthus boss fight at the end to be one of the first challenging boss fights. Fortunately, if you bring the right people and take the right actions, it ends up being pretty easy.

Who should you take into the Nerthus boss fight in Eiyuden Chronicle?

Well, you end up having to have Mellore for this fight. She temporarily joins for it. Odds are you will also be going through this quest early in the game. This means you won’t have many options available.

So here’s the party I suggest and what role each person should play:

  • Francesca: She’s your healer for the battle! This boss is actually a bit challenging, so make sure her MP is full and you have healing items for her to use. She should be in the back row too.
  • Garr: Odds are you have him around because he’s one of your first allies. He’s strong, so pop him in the front row alongside Nowa.
  • Lian: Pop Lian in the back row, because she’s a glass cannon. Have her use her SP abilities whenever you can.
  • Mellore: She also needs to be in the party. Use her SP attack. Put her in the back row.
  • Nowa: You have to have him around. Make sure he uses his SP attacks whenever possible. He can be in the front row.
  • Yusuke: Yusuke can be super strong if you charge him up! He can also take a bit of damage. Put him in the front alongside Nowa and Garr.

How do I beat Nerthus in Eiyuden Chronicle?

Basically, this is a gimmick battle. You need to hit one of the two books Mellore puts up at the start of the fight to smoke Nerthus out in Eiyuden Chronicle. Otherwise, it will be hidden underground. So you’ll need to have one of your allies spend a turn hitting the book to get Nerthus above the ground.

Honestly, I like to use either Mellore or Lian for this. If their SP isn’t high enough for a Rune-Lens attack, it’s worth it to have them waste a turn to deal with the gimmick. Garr, Nowa, and Yusuke do too much damage to have them handle it, and you may need Francesca to heal. However, if Lian or Mellore would unavailable due to being able to use one of their SP skills, then have Garr trigger the gimmick.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
