Some of the best equipment items in Baldur’s Gate 3 are also some of the most confusing, such as the Abyss Beckoners gloves. This guide will explain where to find the Abyss Beckoners in BG3, and how to use them.
Where to find Abyss Beckoners in BG3
To get the Abyss Beckoners in BG3, you need to be in either Act 1 or 2. This is because you need to be able to visit the small town of Waukeen’s Rest in the Wilderness and head to the Zhentarim Basement there. You must either obtain the password from Rugan to enter the hidden outpost in the basement during his missing shipment quest or persuade your way through the guard.
Once inside the Zhentarim Hideout, look for a treasure chest in one of the prison cells. You’ll have to pick the lock to open it, and doing so will grant you access to the very rare Abyss Beckoners gloves. These are some of the rarest gloves you can find this early in the game, but they aren’t easy to use.
How to Use the Abyss Beckoners Gloves in BG3
The description of the Abyss Beckoners in BG3 indicates they are used to make the wearer’s summons immune to all damage types in the game except psychic. That is quite powerful since it means your creature is almost entirely invincible and can keep fighting without worry. However, this immense power comes at a cost: each turn, your creature must pass a Wisdom saving throw, or it will go mad and attack anyone and everyone except the summoner.
This is where the gloves become quite risky and complicated. Fortunately, there is an easy solution for this problem if you don’t want to risk your creature going mad. You can toggle on and off the effect of these gloves anytime it’s your turn. So, what I like to do is summon my creature away from my party members so it targets the nearest enemy. After that, I will then turn the gloves back on. That way, if it goes berserk, I can just turn off the gloves to make it normal again.
You can rinse and repeat this method of turning the gloves on and off to gain the benefits without having to suffer the negatives. The best part is that toggling the Abyss Beckoners on and off doesn’t actually count as a move. So, if you know how to use them correctly, they are among the best equipment items in BG3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
