Best Chocobo Racing Gear for Beginners: Saurian Armor
When you are just starting out in the Chocobo Racing scene in the Gold Saucer, you, of course, won’t be able to get the best gear yet. That said, there is some solid armor you can get for your Chocobo that will set you up on the right foot. Go to the NPC trader in the Chocobo Square and trade over some of your golden plume currency for this armor:
- Saurian Helm: 4 golden plumes
- Armor: 4 golden plumes
- Saurian Greaves: 4 golden plumes
Yes, you need a total of 12 golden plumes to get these pieces. But you can get this quite fast by just unlocking the various Chocobo fast travel stops in the open-world regions. I like this set for its high emphasis on acceleration.
Best Overall Chocobo Racing Gear in FFVII Rebirth: Hyperion Armor
When it comes to the overall best Chocobo Racing gear in FFVII Rebirth, hands down, it is the Hyperion set. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get it for quite some time. It is pretty much endgame gear. Here are the three pieces you want:
- Hyperion’s Helm: Reward for The Odin Straights race
- Armor: Reward for The Alexander Siege
- Hyperion’s Shin Guards: Reward for The Phoenix Trial
You’ll pretty much need to be in the endgame of Chocobo Racing to get these three pieces of gear for your Chocobo, as they are in some of the final races in Grade 2. But they are worth it for some of the highest overall stats you’ll find in the game and their special ability, which boosts all your stats during the final lap, which is welcome.
