Emotes are the perfect way to communicate with your fellow soldiers among the carnage and destruction in Helldivers 2. This guide will explain how to emote in Helldivers 2 and how to change the custom animations unlocked in your war table.
Helldivers 2 Emote controls
If you are jumping into Helldivers 2 for the first time, there are a lot of different controls and mechanics to learn in the first few hours. With how much depth there is to combat alone, it’s a lot to take in. So it’s understandable if you don’t know what to do when a teammate pushes out their fist for a game of rock paper scissors.
Here are the steps you can take to emote in Helldivers 2:
- While in a session, hold down left on your controller’s d-pad.
- The emote you have selected in your character menu will then play out.
- On PC, the default button for emote is B on your keyboard.
Yep, it’s that simple. Unfortunately, you are limited to the emotes you have selected. There isn’t currently a shortcut menu that lets you access every emote you have currently unlocked on the fly. So, if you want to change your character’s animation, you are going to have to do that on your ship.
How to change your Emote in Helldivers 2
To change your equipped emote in Helldivers 2, you need to be on your ship. Below, we will break down the steps you can take to change your emote:
- Travel back to your ship and head for the War Table.
- Look for the Armory on the left side of your ship right before you reach the War Table room.
- Interact with the Armor on your wall to pull up the “Armory” menu.
- Next, select the “Character” tab in your Armory.
- Finally, click the “Emote” button that is listed under “Voice Pack” in the Character menu.
- You can now select any emotes that you have unlocked and equip them on your character.
All Emotes in Helldivers 2
There are quite a few emotes already in Helldivers 2. With future updates and battle passes, that list is only going to get bigger. However, here is the list of Emotes that we have found so far:
- Explosive Handshake
- Hug
- High-five
- Scout-Handshake
- Rock Paper Scissors
- Salute
How to Get more Emotes in Helldivers 2
To unlock more emotes in Helldivers 2, you need to purchase them from the Acquisition Center on your ship. It’s actually on the right side of the War Table room across from the Armory, where you change your emotes. Simply walk up to the blue screen and interact with it to access the store.
To get more emotes in Helldivers 2, you need to purchase them with medals. You can get medals for completing daily Personal Order Challenges. Completing an order will net you 15 medals. Once you have obtained the currency, you can exchange it for a new emote in the Acquisition Center.
