How to unlock Palace of the Dead in FFXIV

To Unlock Palace of the Dead, players must meet a few prerequisites. Thankfully, they are easy to meet. The Main Scenario Quest will take you through a series of Dungeons and even through Gridania proper, which means that all of these will be met at some point and allow you to get access to Palace of the Dead.

If you have done these two things, head back to New Gridania and speak to Nojiro Marujiro at X:12.0 Y:13.1 to accept the quest “The House That Death Built.” This quest will also reveal the fate of a certain adventuring group you will be familiar with through the Main Scenario Quest, so it helps add a little texture to the world of Final Fantasy XIV.

Once you have completed this series of quests, you can now access Palace of the Dead via The Quarrymill. Speak to the Wood Wailer Expeditionary Captain at X:25.2 Y:20.6 to enter the Palace of the Dead. You can do so as a pre-made group, an automatically assigned group consisting of other players, or by yourself.

However, you only have a total of three save files available, and you will only be able to re-enter Palace of the Dead with those exact specifications if you choose to take a break between runs. Save files can be deleted, so if you want to make space for a new run, you can do so easily by speaking to the same NPC that lets you into the multi-layered Dungeon.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
