2B from Square Enix’s NieR Automata will appear as a DLC playable character in Cygames and Arc System Works’ Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. Cygames made the reveal at Granblue Fes 2023, and it also announced that the character will be available for purchase in late February 2024.
A new trailer showcasing 2B in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising has also appeared on the game’s YouTube channel. It reveals that Yui Ishikawa and Hideki Yasumoto will reprise their respective Japanese voice roles as 2B and Pod 042. Cygames also announced that Kira Buckland will provide 2B’s English voiceover.
Players who purchase the 2B DLC will also get special access to NieR Automata-themed outfits for Djeeta and Gran. There is a major sidenote that these outfits will appear in the original Granblue Fantasy mobile game instead of the Versus fighting game.
2B will also be the second post-release character that Cygames will add to Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. The company has also shared an update schedule roadmap that reveals its plans to release six new characters in 2024. Lucilius will be the first character to arrive on January 16, 2024. Vane and Beatrix will follow through in April 2024 and May 2024, respectively. The remaining two characters will appear in August 2024 and October 2024.
This will not be the first time 2B makes her appearance in a fighting game. Bandai Namco had previously added her as a DLC character for SoulCalibur VI in late December 2018. But while SoulCalibur VI had a more realistic approach for the character models, Arc System Works will depict 2B in a more anime-like look with cel-shading in Granblue Fantasy‘s fighting game.
Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising has been recently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC since December 14, 2023. NieR Automata‘s 2B will appear as a DLC character in late February 2024.
