Square Enix often shares certain FFVII Remake tracks around appropriate themed times, and ahead of Christmas it shared the song “Midnight Rendezvous.” This was a piece composer Misuto Suzuki created for the game, and it used the holiday season as an inspiration.

The image accompanying this song is taken from the moment when it happened in FFVII Remake. As part of the story, Aerith offers to guide Cloud at night back to the Sector 7 Slums. When the two reunite at night under the stars, this track begins playing. In Final Fantasy VII Remake Material Ultimania, Suzuki even noted that the goal was to make it feel like Christmas with the “sparkling sequences” and “warm pads.” The composer also said the idea of “walking through town around Christmastime” was designed to be part of its ambiance. (As a note, that book going into the making of the game is available worldwide at places like Amazon, Crunchyroll, and Target.)

Here’s the clip from the FFVII Remake track “Midnight Rendezvous.” It’s only 1:20 long. The full track is available via services like Spotify and is over three minutes long.

While Square Enix is mostly sharing tidbits and insights from FFVII Rebirth online now, insights from FFVII Remake still come up sometimes. For example, earlier in December 2023 the company offered a look at concept art for other outfits Tifa might have worn as a child.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will come to the PS5 on February 29, 2024, with the console exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024. FFVII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. FFVII Ever Crisis is available now on both the PC and mobile devices.
