Unlike past DLC, players must meet a few requirements before starting the Indigo Disk expansion in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Here is everything you need to know on how to start the Indigo Disk in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
All prerequisites to start Indigo Disk in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Although players were able to jump into the Crown Tundra DLC at any time in 2019’s Pokemon Sword and Shield, Game Freak has changed how they are handling the second part of its Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion in the Gen 9 RPGs. Before you take your trip to the Blueberry Academy, you must clear two major prerequisites.
Below is a list of the requirements you need to access the Indigo Disk DLC:
- Finish The Way Home (The final Pokemon Scarlet and Violet campaign in the Paldea crater)
- Finish The Teal Mask (The first Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC)
To start the Indigo Disk in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you must complete the main Area Zero story in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well as the Teall Mask DLC campaign. The Area Zero story is unlocked after you complete the three main story campaigns “Victory Road,” “Path of Legends” and “Starfall Street”. You will have completed the first Indigo Disk requirement after confronting either Professor Turo or Professor Sada at the bottom of the Great Crater of Paldea.
The second requirement is completing the main story campaign of the Teal Mask DLC. This includes defeating the Loyal Three trio Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti, and obtaining Legendary Pokemon Ogerpon. You must also reach the black “To be Continued” screen that closes out the story of The Teal Mask.
How to begin the Indigo Disk
After you have completed The Way Home and The Teal Mask campaigns, the DLC will become available at the Naranja Academy (Pokemon Scarlet) or Uva Academy (Pokemon Violet). Similar to how you start the Teal Mask DLC, players will receive a notification on their map like the image I’ve provided below.
Once you fast-travel to the Academy, you must find Cyrano in the lobby section. The NPC is in a white and blue suit and is wearing a fedora. After speaking to him, he will ask: “Are you all ready to kick off your studies abroad at Blueberry Academy?”. Once you select “Yes” the game will then start the Indigo Disk DLC.
The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC is available on the Nintendo Switch starting on December 14th, 2023.
