Back in October 2019, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo announced a Nioh 2 character creation contest to go along with its November 2019 beta demo. Now, the “winners” have been released. Instead of three female and three male designs being chosen, four of each have been picked for a total of eight cosmetic options.
When the Nioh 2 character creation contest was announced, the companies asked that people playing through the November 2019 beta upload screenshots to Twitter with a specific hashtag to enter the designs in the contest. It said the winning designs would become Templates, presets people could pick from during character creation to build off of or use as their avatar. The people would also have their names featured in the credits to honor them for their contributions.
The following image shared on the official Nioh 2 Twitter account shows the eight templates. In the top row, from left to right, the people who made those character faces were Fujiko Fujimino, Bo Diaz, Koma-p Tenzen, and Jesse Black. In the bottom row, the people behind the faces were Ruder, CHANO, Juny Ymmt, and Siutyler. In an interesting aside, the Koma-p Tenzen face is based on Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida, the lead game designer for Final Fantasy XIV.

Nioh 2 will come to the PlayStation 4 on March 13, 2020 and will have a season pass that adds three extra stories. More news about the game will be arriving on a weekly basis going forward.
