Right on the heels of the reveal of the first ten games for the Japanese region Mega Drive Mini, Sega has released information on the Sega Genesis Mini, including a look at the mini console and its controller, as well as the first ten games in this US version.
As revealed via the main site, the controllers included will be based on the American three-button controller, rather than the six button controller in the Japanese Mega Drive Mini version. While the Mega Drive Mini will be sold in SKUs that come with one or two controllers, there is only one Genesis Mini SKU, which contains two USB-wired controllers by default. The package also includes a USB power adapter, a power cable, and an HDMI cable.
Here are the list of ten games announced so far for the Genesis Mini (ones differing from Mega Drive Mini in bold):
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Castlevania: Bloodlines
- Space Harrier II
- Shining Force
- Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
- ToeJam & Earl
- Comix Zone
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Altered Beast
- Gunstar Heroes
As a comparison, here are the ones in the Mega Drive Mini but not announced (yet) for the Genesis Mini:
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- Puyo Puyo Tsu
- Madou Monogatari I
- Powerball
- Rent-A-Hero
The Sega Genesis Mini/Mega Drive Mini will release on September 19, 2019 worldwide. More info on the included games in each region will be revealed later. You can find the official site for the Genesis Mini here.
