Recently, the Taiwanese Ratings Board updated with a new listing for Doraemon: Story of Seasons, the latest game in the series coming to Nintendo Switch, developed by Studio Brownies.
As you may expect, the game is rated Normal (ie. Everyone), and publishing is being handled by Bandai Namco. What’s interesting, however, is the use of ‘Story of Seasons’ as the series title, which seems to hint at some sort of English release in the future.
The Story of Seasons branding has been in use ever since 2012 with the second game developed for 3DS, when Marvelous stopped licensing the series to Natsume (who used the brand name Harvest Moon) in favor of Xseed Games. Since then, the brand seems poised to continue with the new name, with Trio of Towns and Return to PoPoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale coming out under the Story of Seasons branding as well. On the other hand, Natsume has published their own original games in the farming genre since, under the previous title Harvest Moon.
While Marvelous has its own localization studio nowadays with XSeed Games, as Bandai Namco is publishing the game outside of Japan as well, the game could see an Asian release with English support, as they have done with other licensed property titles like the Super Robot Wars games and G Generation series.
