Last week, Japan got several key releases with Steins;Gate Elite on PS4, PS Vita, Switch, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 retail version of Torna ~ The Golden Country, and the Atelier Arland remasters. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of September 17 to September 23, 2018.

 

The #1 spot of the week is once again Marvel’s Spider-Man for the third week in a row, with 38,065 units sold on PS4. The first new title is Steins;Gate Elite which charted at #2 on PS4 with 13,433 units, #4 for Nintendo Switch with 13,305 units, and #20 for PS Vita with 3,704 units sold for a combined total of 30,442 units.

 

At #3 we have Minecraft with 13,317 units sold for Switch and Splatoon 2 at #5 with 13,205 units sold for Switch. The next new entry in the list is Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country with 5,697 units sold for Switch. Following at #12 is the next new title in F1 2018 for PS4 with 5,517 units sold in its debut, then Atelier Arland Series Deluxe Pack’s Premium Box edition at #13 with 5,341 units sold on PS4.

 

As for hardware sales, the PlayStation 4 sold 11,661 units and the PS4 Pro sold 4,332 units to combine for 15,993 units between the two. The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling hardware with 37,733 units sold in the week to make up for 59.3% of all hardware sales. Going by Media Create’s figures, the Nintendo Switch has passed the five million milestone and is currently at 5,012,162 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
