Nintendo Will Make “Significantly More Units” Of The SNES Classic Edition, And Longer Cables

Nintendo just recently revealed the Super NES Classic Edition, and already consumers have voiced their concerns over the console’s availability, considering the Classic NES Editions became increasingly hard to find after their release last November until shipments eventually ceased a few months later.

Now Nintendo sent out an official statement to Kotaku in regards to these concerns, saying it will be making “significantly more units” compared to the NES Classic.

Here’s a look at the statement:

“We aren’t providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition is currently planned to ship from Sept. 29 until the end of calendar year 2017. At this time, we have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year.

Our long-term efforts are focused on delivering great games for the Nintendo Switch system and continuing to build momentum for that platform, as well as serving the more than 63 million owners of Nintendo 3DS family systems. We are offering Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition in special recognition of the fans who show tremendous interest our classic content.”

In related news about the new mini-console, Nintendo also mentioned that the Super NES Classic Edition will have longer controller cables at five feet (NES Classic’s was three feet). It’s also been revealed that the European version won’t be coming with an AC adapter, similar to how they got the NES Classic Edition.

The Super NES Classic Edition will release on September 29th, 2017.
