Last week, Japan got a key release with Culdcept Revolt for 3DS, a strategy game that puts together Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering elements. Also released was Nippon Ichi horror adventure Shin Hayarigami 2. Here’s the weekly video games sales data of software and hardware that sold in the week of July 4 through July 10, 2016.

At #1 we have this week’s highlight title with Culdcept Revolt developed by Omiya Soft. A previous Culdcept game released in 2008 for PS3, PSP, and Nintendo DS in Japan. Before that, the West got it in 2003 for PS2. That said, for a series that’s been dormant for the better part of the last 8 years, its debut of 29,321 isn’t bad.

#2 was a big surprise to see, and one we’ve all seen around the top-20 ever since its release in May 2015—Splatoon on Wii U. Yes, while we’ve seen Splatoon floating around the middle parts of the top-20, and barely managing to chart last week at #17 with 5,265 copies sold, the game’s sales have more than tripled this past week with 16,351 units sold and putting it in the second spot. Most of it has to do with a new bundle that got released in Japan on July 7 which includes a Wii U system along with Splatoon and the Squid Sisters amiibo. Nintendo also recently announcing that the game will get its 16th and final “Splatfest” event, and it’ll be the big one with Team Callie vs. Team Marie.

Further down the list we have the horror adventure game Shin Hayarigami 2 at #12 with 5,351 copies sold for PlayStation Vita. This would be a pretty hard pill for Nippon Ichi to swallow, as the previous game Shin Harigami sold 12,585 copies on PS Vita and 5,745 copies on PS3 for a total of 18,330 copies. Meanwhile, Shin Hayarigami on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 didn’t even crack the top-20, meaning it had sold less than 3,000 units.

And finally, one more new title—well, not exactly, but Tales of Zestiria’s “Welcome Price!!” version placed #13 with 5,045 units sold in its debut. As far as hardware goes, there was a huge boost in Wii U sales that saw 15,470 units moved compared to last week’s 4,444. Seeing how it got over 10k in sales just like Splatoon did, it’s pretty safe to connect the dots to that.
