Last week, Capcom released Sengoku Basara 4 in Japan, and the game sold 176,313 copies at launch. That’s a far lower debut than Sengoku Basara 3 saw, but higher Sengoku Basara 2’s debut sales. Here’s a look at those two games for comparison:

(2006, PS2) Sengoku Basara 2 – 135,850

(2011, PS3) Sengoku Basara 3 – 242,698

Meanwhile, Namco Bandai’s Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z didn’t sell very much at all, either on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita. The game sold 30,000 copies on the former and 23,000 on the latter.

Far behind it was Sega’s Song Builder 575 rhythm game, which did even worse, selling just 9,700 copies. Given the success of the Project Diva rhythm games and the failure of Song Builder 575, it should be interesting to see how IA/VT Colorful does when it is released. Like the Project Diva series, IA/VT, too, features a Vocaloid serving as its main attraction, albeit a relatively new one.

One last point to note: Attack on Titan was back on the charts last week. It hasn’t been in the top-20 chart for some time now (two weeks ago, it was at #49), so the natural assumption was that sales had tapered off. However, it looks like it was simply sold out all this while, and Spike Chunsoft finally managed to get another shipment out to stores.

The game is now at over 220,000 copies sold at retail, but one would imagine that it has seen a fair few downloads via the Nintendo eShop as well, due to retail shortages.
