In its second week on store shelves, Monster Hunter 4 still ruled the sales charts in Japan. The game sold nearly another 474,000 copies in its second week, and one wonders what sales would look like if there weren’t shortages at retail. Of course, part of these shortages could be offset by download copies, just as they were at launch.

 

At #2 on the top-20 chart was a visual novel published by 5pb. Released on the Vita, the game sold around 16,500 copies.

 

Finally, the retail PS3 version Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn bounced back into the top-20 at the #3 spot. Last week, the game ranked at #28 on the software sales chart, indicating that there was probably a shortage at retail, which Square Enix addressed. Of course, the sales listed in the charts represent only part of the picture, as A Realm Reborn is also available digitally on both PC and PS3, and retail PC copies aren’t tracked here either.
